The manual test procedure is straightforward. Molten polymer is extruded through a precision-controlled die under defined temperature and pressure conditions using a dead weight system.
The extruded polymer is manually cut at timed intervals and weighed. Using the extrusion time and sample weight, the material’s flow rate is calculated as grams per 10 minutes (g/10 min), providing a valuable indication of polymer flow behaviour and consistency.
