The Merlin system provides fast and accurate measurement of bulk electrical resistivity or its inverse, bulk electrical conductivity, in saturated concrete specimens. Designed to comply with ASTM C1876, this system helps assess concrete’s resistance to chloride ion penetration, a key factor in durability. Unlike surface-based measurements, Merlin evaluates resistivity through the entire specimen, providing a comprehensive analysis.

Advanced Four-Point Measurement Method

Merlin utilises a four-point alternating current (325 Hz) measurement to precisely determine specimen resistance while minimising external influences such as conductive sponges and electrode pressure. A built-in voltmeter records the voltage drop, while an ammeter measures current flow, enabling accurate calculation and display of bulk resistivity or conductivity.
