Test Principle
The AUTO W46/1 water vapor transmission rate tester employs the advanced infrared method. During testing, a pre-treated sample is secured within the test chamber, which is divided into high-humidity and low-humidity sides. Humidified nitrogen is directed on one side of the material, while dry nitrogen (as the carrier gas) flows at a fixed rate on the opposite side. Within this humidity gradient, water vapor permeates from the high-humidity side to the low-humidity side.
The water vapor that traverses the sample is transported to the infrared sensor by the flowing dry nitrogen. The electrical signals output by the sensor are then utilised to determine critical parameters, including the water vapor transmission rate. This innovative testing approach makes the AUTO W46/1 an indispensable tool for industries requiring precise evaluation of packaging material barrier properties.
