CorroWatch: Advanced 4-Probe System for Early Detection of Reinforcement Corrosion
The CorroWatch is a 4-probe monitoring device designed to provide early warnings of corrosion activity in concrete-reinforced structures. This multi-probe system features four black steel bars serving as anodes and a noble metal cathode, enabling detection of corrosion at various concrete cover depths. The anodes are attached to rebar with plastic strips and can be positioned at adjustable elevations to match the concrete cover thickness.
How CorroWatch Works When concrete is poured, the CorroWatch monitors corrosion based on cover distance. By measuring current flow between each anode and the cathode using a Zero Ohm Ammeter or data logger, the CorroWatch detects significant current increases, indicating the onset of corrosion.
Enhanced Corrosion Monitoring with ERE-Probe Integration The CorroWatch can work alongside the ERE-Probe to monitor electrical potentials in the anodes, providing a comprehensive view of corrosion activity across the structure.
Key Applications
Corrosion monitoring in high-risk areas like construction joints, marine splash zones, bridge decks, and column bases.
Tracking the advance of the depassivation front from chloride ingress or carbonation.
