The W405L high-end precision packaging material testing instrument, utilising the infrared method, is a newly developed and upgraded tester by GBPI Research and Development Team. It complies with ASTM, GB standards, and market demands. Designed for testing the water vapour transmission rate under specified temperature and humidity conditions, it is applicable to films, sheets, papers, packages and various materials in fields such as food, medicine, medical equipment, daily chemistry, photovoltaic electronics, etc.

Test Principle The W405L employs the infrared method, where a pre-treated sample is positioned in the test chamber. The chamber is divided into high-humidity and low-humidity sides. Humidified nitrogen flows on one side of the sample, while dry nitrogen (carrier gas) flows on the other side. In the presence of a humidity gradient, water vapor permeates through the sample, and the infrared sensor captures the transmitted water vapor. The electrical signal output by the sensor provides the water vapor transmission rate and other parameters.
