COBB Sizing Tester To determine the capacity of water absorption Paper - Paperboard.

Models: CT-100, CT-50, CT-25, CT-10

Applicable Standards:

TAPPI T441, ISO 535, NF Q-03-018, NF Q-03-035, FEFCO 7, DIN 53132, EN 20535, SCAN P12

Test Description:

The COBB Sizing Tester is designed to measure the amount of liquid penetration into paper and cardboard sheets. The COBB value determines the degree of gluing, calculated as the weight of water absorbed over a specified time per 1 m² of material under standard conditions (ISO 535).

The device features a cylindrical container mounted on a metal base with a flexible sealing sheet. Samples are pre-weighed (accuracy: 1 mg) and placed inside the tester. A specified amount of distilled water (100 ml ± 5 ml) is poured into the container, and a timer is started. At the end of the selected period (e.g., 60 seconds), the water is drained.
