Steering Gear Testing Systems

We have a a lot of experience with steering testing systems. Our systems can be used for durability as well as for measuring the functional parameters of steering gears. Prerequisite for modern steering gear testing is the control of the steering gears ECU via the CAN or FLEXRAY communication bus.
The primary purpose of a steering gear testing system is to evaluate the quality, performance, and durability of steering gears used in vehicles. These components are essential for controlling a vehicle's direction and are crucial for safety and driving experience. Testing systems like these help identify any issues or weaknesses in steering gear units.
  1. Durability and Functional Testing Can be used for both durability testing and measuring functional parameters. Durability testing assesses how well steering gear components withstand continuous use and various driving conditions over an extended period. Functional testing evaluates how accurately and reliably the steering gear responds to driver inputs and environmental factors.

  2. Integration of ECU Control Modern vehicles often have electronic control units (ECUs) integrated into the steering gear to enhance performance and safety. Inova's testing systems are equipped to communicate with these ECUs through the Controller Area Network (CAN) or FlexRay communication bus. This is crucial as it allows the testing system to control and interact with the steering gear's electronic components, just as they would operate in a real vehicle.

  3. EU3000 RTC Real-Time Software EU3000 RTC real-time software is a key component of their testing systems. This software integrates CAN and FlexRay communication into the core, making it possible to seamlessly control the steering gear's ECU and collect internal data during the testing process. This synchronisation of data acquisition with the test sequence and the rig loading signals ensures that the testing process closely mimics real-world conditions and provides highly accurate results.

  4. Rest Bus Simulation Steering gear testing systems can simulate the behavior of the rest of the vehicle's systems through the ECU. This is critical for testing the steering gear in a holistic context, as the interaction between the steering system and other vehicle components can impact performance and safety. The ability to simulate these interactions allows for a more comprehensive evaluation of the steering gear's performance.

Our Steering Gear Testing Systems are essential tools for the automotive industry, providing a comprehensive solution for evaluating the quality and performance of steering gears. These systems excel in both durability and functional testing, incorporating advanced capabilities such as ECU communication via the CAN or FlexRay bus. The seamless integration of these features with the EU3000 RTC real-time software ensures that the testing process closely replicates real-world conditions, making it possible to identify and address any issues in steering gear components, ultimately contributing to the safety and reliability of vehicles.
